My company has hired Conor O'Keefe twice for major buildouts in Somerville, MA. The first was for a food production facility and outlet store. This project was being undertaken with a set of architectural plans that were needed for a building permit. The plans didn't go into a lot of technical detail at all about the electrical requirements for machinery, lighting, computers, or the small employee kitchen. This was a 6000 sq ft space. The second project -- two years later -- was for a 4400 sq ft raw space being converted to a class B+ office space with high-end employee kitchen and two bathrooms that did have a fairly details set of architectural drawings. Both projects had HVAC components to them, as well. Conor and his crew performed as part of a team of around ten subcontractors that I brought together in both instances. On both projects, Conor brought his usual positive attitude, communication skills, technical savvy, and strong work ethic. Both projects had significant technical challenges to them. When needed, Conor verified any unusual code requirements with the City's inspector well ahead of time, so that there were never any surprises. He also worked hand in hand with my company's Production Manager and other staff people to make sure that all details were understood and covered, and always kept me in the loop with an email or phone call in case any changes were made that I might not have been aware of. Both projects were completed successfully - on time, on budget, and without any major headaches.

I am restoring a neglected, late 18th century English colonial house, and I sought an electrician to partner with over what is a long project requiring a broad range of electrical work., involving urgent safety-related upgrades and longer term upgrades required for the 21st century.

Conor has made an enormously positive contribution to my project from the the very first day he appeared (on time, as scheduled) to give me a price quote for a bathroom/bedroom refurbishment. Unlike other contractors, Conor constructively questioned my starting assumptions regarding the electrical work required, and in doing so he was able to make suggestions that markedly improved the final outcome. He delivered on that project on time and on budget, and I have used him for every electrical project I have undertaken since then.

Conor has removed and replaced dangerous knob and tube wiring, replaced BX circuits, added coax and cat 5 ethernet cabling, and has become a highly valued advisor as we entirely refurbish a complex structure while having to live in it. He has taken the time to understand our master plan, and has offered workarounds and proposals that have saved us thousands of dollars and weeks of re-work.

Outside of planned electrical work, I've had cause to seek Conor's help under extreme 'emergency' situations on two occasions...one of those involved the complete destruction of the incoming supply line caused by a Saturday night storm. Conor was there early on Sunday morning to assess the damage, he altered his schedule to make the repairs on Monday morning, had the work successfully inspected by Monday afternoon, and by Tuesday the utility company was able to restore service. His charge for that extraordinary service was a straightforward 'time and materials'.

Conor and his team have spent many, many days in our house, and we have been delighted with their punctuality, their care and concern for our property, and their overall level of professionalism. I have no hesitation in recommending Conor O'Keefe Electrical for any residential electrical work.

When I found him on Angies List I gave him a call and he called me back within an hour! Met with him at the job site a couple days later. He looked at the job and clearly and thoroughly told me what needed to be replaced and why. He did not rush his review of the job or our meeting. He told me when he could start the job and showed up on the day and time he said he would be there. He did great work and worked hard to minimize and intrusions he had to make into the ceilings or walls to replace the old wiring. He is professional, competent and very personable. It was not a big job but he said "No job was too small". Go figure?! He gave me an an estimate range for the work and when completed his invoice came in on the low side of the estimate!! I would strongly recommend you give him a shot at your job. You'll be glad you did.

I first met Conor in 2010 when he came to my house in Arlington, MA to assess it for a major electrical upgrade. We share a 2-family home (condos) with another family, and we decided to have a major weatherization performed on the entire house. This required elimination of "knob and tube" wiring, which affected every room throughout the house where there was an existing light fixture in the ceiling. At the same time, we and our fellow condo-owners wanted to add ceiling fans, other ceiling light fixtures, sconces, recessed lighting, improved basement lighting, and many convenience outlets. We also brought electricity to the detached garage.

Conor brings a great sense of customer service to his work, which manifests itself in excellent communications regarding scheduling, preparation of the house for the work, keeping your inconveniences to a minimum, and quality of work. He was also very flexible in dealing with any on-the-fly changes to the plans, and was readily able to assess the impact on the project cost (if any) when making these changes that inevitably occur. He'll gladly install any fixtures and equipment that you purchase, of course. He has a small company with a couple of employees, and personally works on every project. With his considerable experience, he'll have the most cost-effective ideas for you if you are doing a kitchen or bathroom renovation.

We had Conor come back a couple of years later for a minor kitchen renovation that we were managing ourselves with our own plumber and cabinet makers. He works very well with other contractors and always keeps your best interests in mind. Even small projects can be complicated when they involve several contractors, so, it's a pleasure when you don't have to "worry"about your electrician.
